Believed to be built in the thirteen century, Rupnarayan Temple is located on the way to the Diveagar beach. The temple has been recently renovated. The idol of Vishnu is the main attraction of the temple built in Shilahara architechtural style.
Apart from the beach, Murud Janjira located a few minutes boat ride away from Dighi is the main sightseeing option in Diveagar. Dighi is about half an hour from Diveagar and sail boats are available at the Dighi port. If you wish to you can visit the Murud beach on the other end of the creek which is alos a beautiful beach. Murud Janjira is one of the well maintained forts in Maharashtra and there is lots to see within the fort. Hiring a guide at the fort is a good idea if you are interested in the historic aspect. Diveagar is ideally located at the perfect distance from Mumbai and Pune for a weekend get away. Diveagar is not too close or too far away from either of the two major cities of Maharashtra. Just about an hour from Mangaon on the NH 17, road connectivity to Diveagar is quite good with well mainatined roads for most part of the journey.
Diveagar is located about 40 kms off the NH17 from Mangaon which is also the nearest railway station. Only if you are travelling from Mumbai would you be able to use train as the mode of transport however traveling by road to Diveagar would be more convenient. Diveagar can be approached from Mangaon or Goregaon without considerable difference in the distance to be covered.
If you are driving from Pune to Diveagar the best route is the Mulshi route passing via Tamhini ghats. Try to avoid the Ghats after evening as there are no shops for a very long distance and is very deserted.
