Significance :

Ranna was a famous and oldest poet in kannada. In the 10th century he earned title of “kavi chakravarti” by chalukyan king tylapa. which means the king of poets. Ranna contributed a lot to the world of kannada literature and wrote many books in kannada. Many inscriptions are available about him and the study about him still continued as many proofs are coming out from excavation in belagali village and around mudhol. Kavi ranna born on 949 in a small family and with his contribution to kannada literature he became the key poet in the chalukyan dynasty. Some inscriptions are available about ranna and chalukya in the belagali village near mudhol. Even though there is no museum for them visitors can see the same in BVV(belagali vidya vardhak sangha)school where some inscriptions are stored.
